Here’s what will be expected of you if you are officiating this year.

This opportunity to get certified will allow you to become a volleyball official for the entire academic year. If you plan on officiating again for the following year – you’ll want to ensure you complete the training during the SUMMER before Girls’ season. Save the dates and keep up with this website – training prior to Girls’ season is usually in June/July.

Once you register – remember your login username and password. You will need to login to this site in order to access most of the training and important documents. Once you’ve logged in > get familiar with the entire website. You will be responsible for the content, memos, updates and requirements outlined on this site.
If your application is accepted, you will receive an email invitation to join our Arbiter Group. Please fully complete your Arbiter profile and complete the steps to register that are described here.
This year we are using Arbiter to manage most of our registration requirements. We’ve created a Central Hub that will house Registration, Online Trainings, Online Testing, and Membership Dues. Beyond this, we’ll be updating your officiating status in Arbiter so you no longer need to ask the Board of Directors whether or not you’ve completed all the requirements! You’ll be able to see for yourself in the Central Hub.

$100.00 Membership Dues (covers the cost of your insurance and misc). You will pay this via the Arbiter Central Hub.

If you are a new official this year, you will need to create your own login for the NFHS learn portal. Remember your username and password – this will be a unique login and is not automatically the same as the login for www.sdvballref.org. Returning officials should already have an NFHS account that you’ll need to log into to take this course and the next training requirement.
Email a copy of this certification and that of the second course you need to take to admin@sdvballref.org with the following Subject Line:
“[Last Name] + [First Name]: [Current Year] NFHS Certifications”

You are responsible for attending all of the general meetings along with the rest of the association.
If you are out of state – zoom links will be published for these events. Your attendance is still expected.

BOTH COURSES ARE REQUIRED BY ALL OFFICIALS!
In years past, only a certain section of the association was required to take the Concussion in Sports Certification. This year, we are requiring that every official that wants to work this year needs to complete that course. We are also requiring an online training on Rotation Alignment. Rotations continue to be one of the hardest rules of the game for officials to understand. This NFHS course does a good job of breaking down and we feel is valuable for all of the association to complete. It also covers two of your 18 hours of training required by our bylaws!

Steps for how to complete this:
Your Annual Dues cover the costs of your membership and include insurance. The SDFVOA Board will pay for your officiating insurance. You are still solely responsible for purchasing your own health, life/accident, and personal insurance as stated in your Independent Contractor Agreement. This will be done via the Arbiter Central Hub as part of the registration process.
